PU Jun, Doctor of Medicine, Doctoral Supervisor, Chief Physician, Deputy Director of Ward No. 1 of Department of Neurosurgery of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University, Chairman of Neurosurgery Branch of Yunnan Medical Association, Executive Director of the Chinese Stroke Association, President of Yunnan Stroke Association, the Leading Medical Talent in Yunnan Province, the Professional and Technical Talent with Outstanding Contribution in Yunnan, Editorial Broad Member of Chinese Journal of Neurosurgery (English Edition) and Project Reviewer of National Natural Science Foundation. He teaches undergraduates and international students at KMU and has mentored 2 postdoctoral fellows, 3 doctoral and 16 postgraduate students so far.
PU Jun established the first National Precise Neurosurgery Training Center in China, facing South and Southeast Asia, and has trained more than 50 young neurosurgeons from South and Southeast Asian countries. He had been invited to make presentations at World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies, the Asia-Pacific Conference on Neurological Diseases and the Cross-strait Forum on Cerebrovascular Diseases for many times. Meanwhile, he works hard on promoting the construction of stroke centers in 16 cities/prefectures and 124 counties in Yunnan and has trained a group of excellent neurosurgeons for the province. PU Jun implements 2-3 new neurosurgery technologies in the province and leads the team to complete more than 300 difficult and complicated operations every year.
PU Jun has been long engaged in basic and clinical research on hypothermic brain protection and glioma. He presided over 4 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 4 projects at the provincial and ministerial level, including 1 key project and 1 project of the China Postdoctoral Science Fund, and participated in 3 provincial/ministerial-level projects as a key member, as well as 2 major national 13th Five-Year Plan projects as a core member and one major sub-projects of the 14th Five-Year plan projects as the principal. He has won the third prize of Yunnan Science and Technology Progress Award for two consecutive times, the second prize of Yunnan Health Science and Technology Achievement Award once and the third prize of Science and Technology Progress Award from Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine.
